Duppach

Since 200 AD even the ancient Romans practised forging in Duppach. Therefore, the smithing has a long tradition in an around Duppach which visitors still can experience in the blacksmith of Thomas Knauf. On the open fire you can also peek over the smith's shoulders.

Guided tours: Apr-Sept. Tuesdaya 17:00hrs and on selected Saturdays. Registration necessary!
Price: 5,00€ per person incl. of an non-alcoholic drink. Additional times for groups up to 10 perople on request.

Burg Kerpen

Alfred Andersch lebte nach dem 2. Weltkrieg mehrere Jahre auf Burg Kerpen. Castle Kerpen was from 1911 to 1941 the home of the famous Eifel painter Fritz von Wille, whose grave is located above the castle. Alfred Andersch lived for several years afther the Second Worl War at the Kerpen Castle. The castle is currently privately owned and can only be visited from the outside.

Vulkankrater Papenkaule

The volcanic activity on Munterley has had several eruptions, the most notable being the crater of Papenkaule. The volcanic crater is about 80 m wide and 20 m deep. Today, the Papenkaule is a top-class geo- and biotope.
