Gerolstein Forest Nature Trail
Gerolstein
The forest nature trail can be regarded as a branch of the Gerolstein Natural History Museum. It offers interested forest visitors information about the forest and its functions on the basis of information boards. Topics include all tree species and forestry, as well as water, ecology and game and hunting in this area of the Eifel.
The family-friendly nature trail leads on a charming circular route through the beautiful Gerolstein forest landscape and can either be explored in its entirety (as a circular route) or integrated into individually selected hiking routes. Parts of the trail run parallel to the Eifelsteig and its partner trail, the Gerolsteiner Keltenpfad.
Highlights on the trail, apart from the characteristic flora and fauna, are the Gerolsteiner Büschkapelle and of course the observation tower on the extinct Dietzenley volcano. At an altitude of over 618 m above sea level, it offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the volcanic Eifel landscape.
