Helenenquelle im Gerolsteiner Kurpark
Gerolstein
The Helenenquelle on the Kyll Cycle Path near Gerolstein Town Hall is a popular resting place for cyclists and hikers. The fresh mineral water comes from a depth of approx. 90 m and can be drunk free of charge from the brass tap (April-October).
The Helenen spring corresponds to the main type of Gerolstein mineral water: lots of calcium and magnesium and a decent portion of carbon dioxide. At the foot of the tap, deposits can be seen, lime - pure calcium carbonate - is excreted directly from the run-off mineral water and settles on the substrate.
