Tieferbach path
Oberbettingen
The Tieferbach accompanies you on your circular tour from Oberbettingen to Basberg and back. Slow down on your hike through the idyllic nature of the Eifel.
The hike starts in the centre of the village, bus stop Oberbettingen. Oberbettingen was first mentioned in a document in 845 and has about 750 inhabitants. The path leads past the daughter church to the end of the village. Here, accompanied by the Hocheifelweg (Eifelverein-HWW No. 14), you turn right onto the natural hiking trail, signposted with the corresponding logo. Follow this path to Basberg. With almost 100 inhabitants, Basberg is one of the smallest villages in the Gerolstein municipality. There you turn right into Aueler Straße. After a few metres, turn right onto the hiking trail that leads back to Oberbettingen. Follow the road "Basberger Weg" to the right. At the playground, turn right again into Lissendorfer Straße, which will take you back to your starting point.
Tip: Take a look at the St. Nicholas Chapel, which has been documented in writing since 1658, and at the Marian Column, modelled on the one in Fatima.
