Hiking in the realm of his majesty Vulcanus, god of fire
Whether lava head or cinder cone, mineral spring or Eifel maar, millstone or ice cave. On the Volcano Trail, everything revolves around him: Vulcanus, god of fire and blacksmithing. His majesty grants us an insight into his realm, into his treasure chambers between Jünkerath, Steffeln and Gerolstein. You can feel quite proud when you look out from the throne of the gods into the Eifel landscape. A total work of art created from successes, but also from defeats.
Treasuries of endurance
Vulcanus, master of fire and gifted blacksmith, filled well-guarded treasure troves with his works. He had a hand in the iron foundry history of Jünkerath. At Steffelnkopf, he provided an insight into the crater mouth and thus into the complexity of volcanic processes. In Eicholzmaar, he created a unique archive for the recent climate and settlement history of the Eifel. And at Rother Kopf, he allowed people to use his work for themselves, whether as a building material or a natural refrigerator.
Learning to appreciate treasures
Wealth, diversity, treasures. Vulcanus spoiled the region in the Eifel that bears his name. Some things slumber in secret, others come to light. His majesty invites you to take a seat. To feel like a god for once, as the creator of a great, harmonious whole. If you look closely, you will discover your own personal treasures on this hiking tour. Recognize the infinite power, patience and determination that underlies their creation.
