Am 05. Oktober 2024 feiern wir die 1.900 Jahrfeier des Juddekirchhofs in Pelm

Ab 11 Uhr wird den Besuchern zu Ehren der keltisch-römischen Tempelanlage ein buntes Programm geboten:

  • Eifelverein Wanderung | Brunnnenplatz - Tempelanlage Juddekirchhof
  • Führungen am Juddekirchhof
  • Archäologischer Verein Duppach-Weihermühle mit Ausstellung vor Ort
  • Essen und Getränke


Die Geschichte des Juddekirchhofs

Der Römer Marcus Victorius Polentius stiftete auf dem Munterley-Plateau 124 n. Chr. der Göttin Caiva einen Weihetempel, vermutlich als Dank für eine siegreiche Schlacht. Die Kultstätte wird heute im Volksmund "Juddekirchhof" genannt. Der Name kommt von "Joddekirchhoff", d. h. "Hof um die Kirche (Heiligtum) der Jodd", wobei "Jodd" gleichbedeutend mit "Taufpatin" ist. Die keltischen Matronen hatten in etwa dieselben Aufgaben, wie katholische Taufpatinnen. Nach der Zerstörung durch die Franken im 6. Jahrhundert, sind bis heute die Fundamente und Reste der Umfassungsmauern des Tempelbezirks erhalten geblieben.

The traditional harvest festival in Rockeskyll is celebrated with a varied programme. On Saturday, 21 September from 7:30 pm, dancing with "The Hurricanes" in the large marquee ensures a great atmosphere and a good mood. Havest-Sunday, 22 September, traditionally begins at 11 am with a festive service in St. Bartholomew's Church in Rockeskyll, where the harvest offerings are blessed. The farmers' and crafts market can then be visited from 2 pm. Musical entertainment will be provided by the music societies from Steffeln and Walsdorf-Zilsdorf.

After three long years, the Mozart Weeks Eifel are finally making a guest appearance again in the fantastically beautiful Protestant Church of the Redeemer in Gerolsteiner. On Friday, November 15 at 7:00 pm, the Southwest German Chamber Orchestra Pforzheim will perform under the direction of its first, long-standing guest conductor Georg Mais together with soloist Wen-Sinn Yang, violoncello. The versatile ensemble, consisting of fourteen musicians from seven nations, is one of the very few “full-time” chamber orchestras in Europe, and the varied program of this eagerly awaited concert with one of the best chamber orchestras in Germany includes masterpieces by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Joseph Haydn and Peter Tchaikovsky.
