The 10 km long hike leads from Gerolstein to Hillesheim. On July 1, 1912, the era of stagecoaches came to an end for Hillesheim with the commissioning of the railway line Gerolstein - Hillesheim. After the Hillesheim viaduct was destroyed in World War II, the line was decommissioned. Today, the former route from Pelm to Dohm is intended to be the hiking path. Along the way, Helmut Bell from the Jünkerath railway enthusiasts will explain the history of the railway line. Numerous mostly dilapidated structures still bear witness to the use of the line.

Under the expert guidance of a mushroom expert, we offer interested participants, including children, a mushroom hike in the forests of the Gerolstein region. Religious monuments such as the wayside crosses showcase the faith in the Eifel region. This hike around Hillesheim leads to the crosses of the seven footfalls. Until World War I, prayers were offered at these crosses as a small Stations of the Cross. At the end of the hike, there will be a short lecture on the history of the wayside crosses.
