Donkey hike around the Dehner Dry Maar (taster tour with donkey driving license)


With this offer, you will learn quite a bit about how to handle and behave with donkeys. During a short hike, you can then try out the knowledge you have acquired. 

This tour is suitable for:

  • if you want to get to know donkey hiking. 
  • if you need a short break and want to switch off and relax 
  • if you want to spend valuable time with dear friends
  • as a family hike 
  • as preparation for a multi-day tour

Duration: approx. 2 hours (hiking time approx. 1.5 hours)
Distance: 4 km 

Price: Adults 26.50 €, children up to 6 years 5.00 €, children from 6 years 9.50 €, children with their own donkey 26.50 €, family price (2 adults, 2 kids, 2 donkeys) 65.00 €, group prices on request

The hiking route is designed in such a way that we can shorten the distance at any time or add another round if it is particularly beautiful. The hike is suitable for strollers. Own dogs may be brought (by arrangement). It is not possible to lead a dog and a donkey at the same time. Each animal needs its own contact person.


For the protection of humans and animals, our donkey hikes are always accompanied.

"Burg Kerpen-Wacholderheide-Enzian-Runde" mit dem Eifelverein Gerolstein

The parking lot by the tennis courts in Kerpen is the starting point of the approximately 11 km long hike. The route passes by Kerpen Castle and through a meadow landscape to Niederehe. The return trip goes through Loogh back to Kerpen, where the fringed gentian can be admired. The fare from/to Gerolstein is 3 € per person. Please plan for your own backpack refreshments. Under the expert guidance of a mushroom expert, we offer interested participants, including children, a mushroom hike in the forests of the Gerolstein region. Start is at 1:00 p.m. The mushroom hunt takes about 2 hours There is a charge of 20.00 euros per participant for the mushroom dish. The maximum number of participants is 15 and the acceptance is based on the number of registrations received. Auf den Spuren der Eisenbahn mit dem Eifelverein Gerolstein

The 10 km hike leads from Gerolstein to Hillesheim along the former railway track. On July 1, 1912, the era of the stagecoach came to an end with the commissioning of the railway line. After destruction in World War II, the line was decommissioned. Helmut Bell from the Jünkerath railway enthusiasts explains the history along the way. Eifelverein Hillesheim "Wegekreuze in Hillesheim"

Religious monuments such as the wayside crosses showcase the faith in the Eifel region. This hike around Hillesheim leads to the crosses of the seven footfalls. Until World War I, prayers were offered at these crosses as a small Stations of the Cross. At the end of the hike, there will be a short lecture on the history of the wayside crosses.
