Eifelverein Hillesheim "Rund um Neroth"

Our hike starts at the intersection of Layenstraße/Hauptstraße in Neroth. Main attractions are the Nerother Kopf with the ruins of Freudenkoppe and the millstone caves. A final stop for refreshments is planned. Directions: Carpooling, 3 € per person. Those who are unable to hike are also warmly welcome. The location of the final gathering will be announced in due time. Auf den Spuren der Eisenbahn mit dem Eifelverein Gerolstein

The 10 km hike leads from Gerolstein to Hillesheim along the former railway track. On July 1, 1912, the era of the stagecoach came to an end with the commissioning of the railway line. After destruction in World War II, the line was decommissioned. Helmut Bell from the Jünkerath railway enthusiasts explains the history along the way.
