"Rettet die Oleftalbahn" - ein Rückblick und (k)ein Ausblick?

About 20 years ago, the "Oleftalbahn" Kall – Schleiden - Hellenthal was facing closure. Dedicated railway enthusiasts fought for its preservation and revival for a long time – but in the end, was it in vain? 

This event consists of a retrospective featuring historical footage of various museum trains on the “Oleftalbahn” and a discussion round about the current situation. Since the flood catastrophe in 2021, the fate of the line seems more uncertain than ever. Tourist traffic has been suspended, the line is no longer navigable, and time is pressing for an application for funding for reconstruction - how can we move forward? 

Admission free. Participation only by prior registration.
It is hoped for a lively participation in favor of the Oleftalbahn. Please also be sure to note the event on March 24 with Mr. Dr. Reinkober.

Buchvorstellung „Die ehemals geplante rechtsufrige Moselbahn“

New book by the railway enthusiasts Jünkerath about the formerly planned right bank Moselle railway The right bank Moselle railway was planned over 100 years ago but was never completed. Nevertheless, or perhaps precisely because of this, there is an exciting story behind it, which the railway enthusiasts Jünkerath have documented in a 384-page book. The documentation created by author Martin Kreckler over many years outlines the political, military-strategic, and technical-economic considerations and achievements, as well as the work carried out on this planned route. Readers also gain deeper insights into the operational procedures and perspectives of the railway administration at the time, which were predominantly dictated by economic interests and especially by the important operating medium, the steam locomotive. Site plans, facsimiles, drawings, and historical photos make the book a comprehensive documentation that is equally interesting for railway enthusiasts and those interested in local history. The presentation of the book will take place as part of a slide show on March 15, 2025, at 3:00 PM, in the railway museum in Jünkerath. The Museum Station Ahütte becomes the setting for the crime role-playing game "A Robbery on the Legendary Night Express?" A 3-course menu will be served along with plenty of fun, excitement, and entertainment. Participants will receive role cards in advance and will take on the personas of famous travelers of that night train to solve a crime or even commit one themselves?
