Once again this year, we would like to invite you to a current transport policy evening at the museum railway station to discuss perspectives for the future of the railway in the Eifel.

We look forward to the visit of Mr. Dr. Norbert Reinkober, Managing Director of "go.rheinland GmbH", who is responsible for all rail traffic between Gerolstein and Cologne, among other things.

Topics of Mr. Dr. Reinkober's lecture:

  • 1. Infrastructure development of the Eifel and Voreifel lines, Oleftalbahn
  • 2. Operational development and opportunities after electrification
  • 3. Mobility stations Admission is free.

Free admission, participation only by prior registration.
Afterwards, the station gastronomy invites you to a social exchange over dinner.

Auf den Spuren der Eisenbahn mit dem Eifelverein Gerolstein

The 10 km hike leads from Gerolstein to Hillesheim along the former railway track. On July 1, 1912, the era of the stagecoach came to an end with the commissioning of the railway line. After destruction in World War II, the line was decommissioned. Helmut Bell from the Jünkerath railway enthusiasts explains the history along the way. Mit Oldtimer-Bus und Draisinen ins Hohe Venn

On the third Wednesday of our holiday program, we plan a big trip and travel – just like in the times of the opening of the railroad in Ahütte – all the way to Sourbrodt in the High Fen. We will start with a vintage bus from the 1950s from Ahütte and, for the onward journey in Kalterherberg, connect to pedal-powered bicycle railcars. Upon returning to Ahütte, there will be an opportunity to dine in the train station's restaurant (not included in the price) Participation is only by prior registration.
